FlyBig Takes to the Skies New Flight Service Links Dehradun, Hindon, and Ludhiana

Ghaziabad: In a significant development for regional air connectivity, FlyBig, a Gurgaon-based airline, is set to launch a new flight service connecting Dehradun, Hindon, and Ludhiana. The airline has already opened reservations on its official website and is slated to commence operations on September 6.

A Strategic Move Amidst the G20 Summit

Interestingly, this development coincides with the arrival of foreign dignitaries for the G20 Summit in Delhi. Between September 8 and 10, some flights will be directed to the Hindon civil terminal, serving as a crucial link for international visitors.

The Flight Schedule and Ticket Availability

Saraswathi Venkat, the director of Hindon civil terminal, confirmed the airline’s intent to start operations from September 1.

  • However, the airline’s website showed no flights available until September 5.
  • On the inaugural day, September 6, only two tickets were available for the 20-minute stopover at Hindon Terminal between Dehradun and Ludhiana.

The Aircraft and Ticket Pricing

According to FlyBig’s official website, a DCH6-400 aircraft, a 19-seater plane, will operate on this route.

  • The flight will depart from Dehradun at 8:10 am, reach Ghaziabad at 9:05 am, and take off for Ludhiana at 9:25 am, finally landing at 10:50 am. The ticket for this journey is priced at Rs 6,329.

Hindon Terminal: A Brief History

The Hindon civil terminal, sprawling over 3,500 square meters, was inaugurated in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  • Initially envisioned as a hub for air travel to Uttarakhand and western UP regions, the terminal has yet to realize its full potential.
  • Heritage Aviation was the first to operate on the Pithoragarh route in October 2019, but the service was soon suspended.

FlyBig’s Current Operations

Currently, FlyBig operates on 11 routes, including Kolkata, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Patna, Itanagar, Imphal, Agartala, Silchar, Pasighat, Rupsi, and Tezu.

What are your thoughts on this new flight service? Do you think it will boost regional connectivity?
