In a significant move, the Public sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the price of 19 KG commercial LPG gas cylinders by Rs 158, as per sources. This reduction, effective from today, brings the retail sales price of a 19kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi to Rs 1,522. This move follows a previous reduction on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, when the central government decreased the price of Domestic LPG by Rs 200 as a gesture towards the women of the country.
It is important to note that monthly revisions for both commercial and domestic LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders take place on the first day of each month.
- Hence, the new rates have been implemented from September 1.
This recent reduction comes after a series of price adjustments in recent months.
- In August, the OMCs had already reduced the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 99.75.
- However, in July, the prices were increased by Rs 7 each.
- Prior to this increase, there were two consecutive price cuts for commercial LPG cylinders in May and June.
- In May, the OMCs reduced the price by Rs 172, and in June, it was further reduced by Rs 83.
- Additionally, in April, the prices were reduced by Rs 91.50 per unit.
Contrastingly, on March 1 of this year, petroleum and oil marketing companies increased the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 350.50 per unit and domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 50 per unit.
This series of price adjustments reflects the government’s commitment to regulating LPG prices and ensuring affordability for its citizens.
- It is a testament to the administration’s dedication to not only supporting the women of the country but also the commercial sector, which has been significantly impacted by the pandemic.
