Mumbai: In a rather unconventional beauty tip, Tribal Welfare Minister Dr. Vijaykumar Gavit has suggested that women should consume fish to achieve the radiant beauty akin to Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. The minister, who also holds a medical degree, attributed the actress’s captivating eyes and flawless skin to her daily intake of fish.
At an event where fishing equipment was distributed to tribal men and women, Dr. Gavit, a former medicine professor and now a BJP minister, elaborated on his unique beauty advice.
- He stated, “When you eat fish, whoever sees your eyes will definitely court you. Fish has a sort of oil that keeps your skin and eyes healthy.”
- He further added that women who enhance their beauty through a fish-rich diet are easier to woo.
However, this statement did not sit well with many, leading to a flurry of reactions on social media. NCP legislator Jitendra Ahwad took a jibe at the minister, suggesting he should start coaching classes given his profound ‘knowledge’. Ahwad tweeted, “This minister seems to be very studious and experienced. Start coaching classes… many students will attend.”
Shivani Wadettiwar, a leader from the Youth Congress, also expressed her disapproval. She began her social media post with a popular Hindi phrase indicating disapproval and went on to say, “Minister Gavit’s statement about Aishwarya and fish-eating is in bad taste for women.”
The minister’s remarks, though made in the context of promoting the benefits of fish consumption, have sparked a debate on the appropriateness of such comments, especially when made in public forums. It remains to be seen if Dr. Gavit will address the controversy his comments have stirred.
Readers, what are your thoughts on the minister’s beauty advice? Do you believe in the health benefits of consuming fish, or do you think beauty standards should not be reduced to dietary habits?
