• Meanwhile, areas spanning Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu-Kashmir are expected to experience heavy showers.

August 24 promises no respite, with states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh preparing for heavy to very heavy rains. Regions including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu-Kashmir are also forecasted to receive significant rainfall.

5-Day Nationwide Forecast

The monsoon trough, currently positioned north of its usual trajectory, is expected to maintain its stance for the upcoming week.

• Influenced by a cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh and a western disturbance over Northwest India, North, Central, and East India are set to experience widespread rains, thunderstorms, and isolated heavy showers.
• Notably, extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand on August 23.

Furthermore, the Bay of Bengal’s moist southwesterly flows are predicted to bring consistent rain over Northeast India for the next five days. The Arabian Sea’s moist westerly winds are also expected to shower the Konkan coast, including Mumbai.

In terms of temperature, Northwest India will experience below-normal maximum temperatures, while the western regions of South India might see a rise. Overnight temperatures in Northwest India are likely to remain below average.
