Dengue Cases Surge in Ghaziabad: Over 200 Affected

Dengue Cases Surge in Ghaziabad Over 200 Affected

In a concerning development, Ghaziabad has witnessed a sharp rise in dengue cases, with the count surpassing the 200-mark. As of recent reports, the total number of affected individuals stands at a staggering 214.

On Thursday alone, the district recorded 12 new cases of the mosquito-borne disease.

  • Among the newly diagnosed, the youngest is a 12-year-old boy from Siddharth Vihar, while the eldest is a 59-year-old woman from Indirapuram.
  • The other patients hail from diverse regions including Indirapuram, Bhojpur, Vasundhara, Vijay Nagar, and Loni.

In light of the escalating situation, local hospitals have taken proactive measures.

  • The District Combined Hospital in Sanjay Nagar has earmarked 12 beds specifically for dengue patients.
  • In a similar move, the MMG Hospital has reserved 15 beds for those affected.

Dr. RK Gupta, the district surveillance officer, highlighted the proactive measures being taken to combat the spread. “Our teams are diligently surveying both rural and urban areas. Notices are being issued wherever mosquito larvae are detected,” he stated.

In the neighboring city of Noida, the situation is equally alarming with a total of 155 dengue cases reported so far.

  • Authorities have intensified their efforts, with district malaria teams actively scanning areas for mosquito larvae.
  • Upon detection, anti-larvae solutions are promptly sprayed, especially in the vicinity of homes with dengue-positive patients.
  • The District Combined Hospital in Noida has reserved 50 beds for dengue patients, with an additional 240 beds prepped for potential spikes in cases and hospitalizations.

Both cities, along with the national capital, Delhi, are grappling with a surge in vector-borne diseases, a fallout of the July floods. Earlier this month, hospitals in Delhi were directed to allocate 5% of their beds exclusively for dengue patients.
